Installing MEMMAKER Onto Your Computer
----------
This ZIP file contains all of the files
required to run MEMMAKER on your computer
(win 3.1 or win '95). MEMMAKER is a great
utility for those individuals who do not
know much about configuring their computer's
conventional, extended and expanded memory.
MEMMAKER handles everything for you. Follow
the instructions below to download and
install this utility.
After you have downloaded the MEMMAKER
zip file, unzip it into the following
directory (depending on the version of
Windows you are running):
Win 3.1x = C:\DOS
Win '95 = C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND
Next, Close (or ShutDown) Windows and
get back to a MS-DOS prompt. Once there,
type MEMMAKER to start the utility. When
it starts, choose the following options
to properly configure this utility:
Express or Custom Setup = Choose
Custom
Does Your Computer Require EMS Memory
= YES
Specify Which Commands To Include In Memmaker
= NO
Scan Upper Memory Aggressively = YES
Optimize Memory For Use With Windows =
YES
Exclude Memory Rage (?????) = NO
Move BIOS Data into Upper Memory = YES
Keep Current EMM386 Inclusions and Exclusions
= NO
When your computer reboots, if you are
running Windows '95, you'll need to press
F8 as soon as your computer BEEPS and
begins to load the WIN'95 operating system.
Keep pressing it until you see the Win'95
Boot Options Menu. Then choose "Command
Prompt" (usually #6). Then your computer
will reboot again and you should follow
the same instructions to prevent WIN'95
from loading.
Finally, MEMMAKER will return and state
"it is finished" and tell you how much
memory it saved. At this point, press
ENTER and you'll go back to a DOS prompt.
Now, reboot your computer again and let
it boot into windows. You're finished.
